Self-translation and retranslation in Mapuche poetry: the Mapuzungun versions of Leonel Lienlaf and Víctor Cifuentes

This article explores the particularities of self-translation and retranslation practices in contemporary Mapuche poetry, based on a case study: bilingual poem Chonkitun by Leonel Lienlaf, retranslated to Mapuzungun Víctor Cifuentes. Through transcomparative analysis Spanish versions work question, we discuss reflect parameters innovation, fidelity authenticity that self-translator retranslator use process writing translating poem, with special attention its context production editing subalternized condition language place literary system.
